family day at the beach. i woke up, showered, put some coffee on the stove and eventually headed down to marie’s and tried to make myself useful as they had been cooking from early. rice and peas, fried chicken, fried fish, vegetables… something for everyone. we all packed into smiley’s van, food in tow, and made our way to pick up jessie, erika, zane and chevaughn. all snuggled and piled on top of each other we were on our way to negril. gaza tunes blaring away, while everyone sang at the top of their lungs, and asam attempted to dance here and there. we finally reached the beach, unglued ourselves from one another and began the sharing of sunday dinner, while the kids dove into the ocean. we made some ‘friends’ on the beach, and after dinner we all went in the water. it wasn’t too packed or overwhelming, for negril standards, so it was a bit relaxing. i did run into mark, a primary school kid from brian and yvonne’s school that i always seem to run into at the beach. this just went to prove marie’s point that kids are magnetized to me. chevaughn, yanique and i ended up going for a walk to hanover. negril beach is most famous for it’s 7 or something mile beach. i’ve walked it countless times, going an coming, but walking with someone like yanique, who loathes exercising is quite an experience. we had a great chat and ran into some crazies too boot, one of whom called yanique and i ‘destruction’ going and ‘baderation’ coming. the sun was in the process of setting as we made our way back to the family and the van. they had already packed up and were waiting for us. night had fallen by the time we actually pulled out on the road. after 20 minutes everyone was passed out, cold.
