independence day 2010

independence day john crow hill crew style. all of my neighbors and host family hired smiley’s coaster for the day… with enough cooked food and rum punch in tow, we made our way out to negril to spend the evening at the beach. as soon as we entered hanover the sprinkling rain soon turned to a downpour. lucky for us negril had cleared up by the time we reached. the place was packed! cars, vans, buses, coasters and massive amounts of people overflowing along the beach. music was pumping from every direction, the sun was shining and the vibes were just right… a proper summer day. we feasted on fish, vegetables and rice and peas. the water was packed with people, in every direction, for miles left and right. again, i ran into mark, the little primary school boy from brian and yvonne’s school… it seems every time i am at the beach in negril he is always there and always finds me. we kicked back and fully enjoyed the time well into the evening. we made a stop at the jungle, which unfortunately was experiencing a troublesome a/c system. the place was busting at the seams with people, but because of the lack of air flow the place was a bit claustrophobic and suffocating. eventually i decided i couldn’t take anymore and headed out to the bus, as i did i passed a bobo dread selling some peanut porridge. porridge in hand i boarded the bus and started feeling the overwhelming sense of exhaustion. we found ourselves back home around 6/630 in the morning. needless to say, it was a successfully celebrated day of independence.
