did moses invent peace corps?

spent all of tuesday quizzing my brother about everything and anything regarding medicine. we headed out to tampa that evening to stay the night so he could reach his testing center at 7 am sharp the next morning. my parents took him to the center bright and early while i tried to go back to sleep, defeated by the alarming and hot stopping alarm that woke us up. i went for coffee with my mum, we met a guy working with some ‘global shelter’ project, in alignment with architecture for humanity and some engineering students from a university upstate. we had an interesting exchange and then we headed to whole foods so i could finally eat… there’s not much for vegetarians who don’t eat dairy, so needless to say unless i cooked during my entire trip, my search for food was limited and hopeless (the four days i was in miami i had lived off natural juices, nuts and coffee). lucky for me this was a well stocked whole foods and i was able to find vegan food, without dairy, so i loaded up a box and was set for the day. we went back for my dad, checked out and headed to take a gander at the university of tampa, more importantly the building which housed the university. it had once been a grandiose resort and getaway in the 20s and 30s… it was a perplexing mix of old moorish design elements met with a floridian style, minarets included. we toured the local museum, which was a bit of a letdown and finished in just enough time to pick up nate. he had finished about 20 minutes before we arrived. he looked drained and listless. we headed to the infamous columbian so they could all eat lunch while i looked on and after driving around a bit, we made our way back home. despite the fact we were all exhausted, we spent the rest of the night starting to watch the longwinded ’10 commandments.’ my brother had compared moses’ exodus to that of him signing up for a peace corps experience… leaving his life, to head to the bush. sound familiar? i tried desperately to keep my eyes open and follow moses on his journey, but after the burning bush and his miraculous aging of 30 years, i headed to bed.

the next morning i greeted my brother with coffee and suddenly i heard moses speaking from the living room, he had started the movie back up, insistent we finish it, though i had missed about 15 years. the movie looked like the director had hired all of florida to act as extras… what a production. no movie like that could ever be undertaken today.
