back at school, day one

this weekend was non-eventful and low-key. asha came over and we caught up on life over bread and jam. we then played phone tag with jessie and i got the run down on life, the dorms, and study hall. we did end up visiting jessie yesterday. i was overtaken with a huge hug and a proper tour of the dorms. hands down he is the cutest rasta at munro. he filled me in on all the proper details and told me stories about the students who are selected to be in charge of the dorm and how they run some shady business… so it goes in a boarding school. he seems to be quite happy and doing just fine. we met some of his dorm-mates and they were all quite friendly, they all vary in ages. one of them, a year or two older, started ranting about how he’s already tired of being around boys all the time, would it hurt to see a girl every so often. he had us all in stitches. we hung around till they called dinner and visiting hours had finished. hugs all around and so he went back on his way. he said to make sure and look for him soon and call in the meantime.

it’s back to the grind… school is a maddening zoo. 32 students. need i say more? everyone is thrilled to have me back, all of my little infant 2 kiddies are now in grade 1. a few new, but familiar, faces are in the crowd… we had a few transfers from lambs river and rat rat (adrianna). oh this is going to be a challenging year, already i can see it, after day one… perhaps something to do with my kids running around, up and down, avoiding their work, chatting like hens, … yea, this is going to be a unique year. i used to give grade 5 communication task assignments every morning after devotion before heading to grade 6 and that alone was a mission. it always left me feeling most appreciative of my students. now those same students have moved on to high school and i’m left with this wild bunch. marie and i have some serious work ahead of us. it’s only the first day and i’m beyond exhausted. help.
