this past week was met with a dead yard, funerals and tomas. there was a mix-up with the scheduling of the dead yard for our vendor’s partner who had recently passed… we went the night before, tuesday, which was supposed to be a candlelit walk from lambs river to seafood; instead it was just a hangout at the yard with candles all lit up. the following night was the real dead yard, but school had been especially draining earlier that day and i did have to wake up early thursday, so i opted not to go and instead head to bed early. thursday we let out after lunch so all of us could attend the funeral down at the catholic church. the service was quite good and many people attended. it was most heart-wrenching to witness the little girl’s grieving; for being just five years old she was quite keen on what was taking place. friday i headed to school to find it very much empty, minus the teachers and a few students. we watched the rain and wind outside as tomas made his was across the caribbean. the rest of the weekend was spent hanging out marie’s yard, yanique and jessie had come wednesday because of the potential threat of tomas, so the yard was full. friday night rocksan somehow managed to get nadine and jasette to come and all of us headed down to the bus stop. we had a proper good time, just us girls, naina’s aunty and carl. the rain ended up washing us out and we soon called it a night. saturday was spent running around with marie, rocksan, erika and sarge. later that evening as we made our way back we passed circle tree and learned there was a 80th coronation celebration in memory of haile selassie… we ran into bungle, got the lowdown and headed home to clean up. marie and rocksan ended up selling me out and i opted to meet up with kat and sarge. we hung out at the bus stop with carl till he was ready to close up and then we all headed over to circle tree to see what was going on. unfortunately the turn out hadn’t been so amazing, and considering i hadn’t heard of any of the performers i opted to hang out and catch up with nadine. eventually sleepiness settled in and we all decided to head out. sunday i spent the afternoon down at marie’s helping the kids, saying bye to yanique and jessie and having sunday dinner. i think because of the temperature changes with the cold front this past weekend, i might have picked up a little cold. last night i loaded up on some benedryl, thinking it would help the cold which took refuge in my eye and made it swell up a bit, so i passed out till this afternoon and tried to sleep it off so tomorrow i could be fresh and ready to fight the possible cold. mama came to check in on me, hung out for a while and i soon again passed out. just had some soup and thinking to head back to sleep so i can wake up early in the morning to make a very important birthday phone call to my brother.
