this afternoon was spent measuring every square inch of marie’s bathrooms to calculate total surface square footage to determine how many tiles are needed to retile the entire bathroom. asam quickly self-assigned himself my sidekick and wanted to help me measure everything. the house has been getting a facelift and proper cleaning since friday. cudjoe and botie started the remodeling of the kitchen saturday night. there had been a kitchen when yanique and i left to hang out up at janelle’s yard saturday night, but when i got back later that night, there was no kitchen. the two of them have been hard at work to rebuild the cabinets and countertop. at this speed they should soon be finished before christmas. chubby and marie found themselves in the midst of tackling the bermuda triangle, which we lovingly call marie’s second floor, because as soon as you take one step upstairs, you are transformed into another dimension where you may never find an exit to normalcy. the two of them had been hard at work from morning cleaning and reorganizing. meanwhile, shanice and yanique were downstairs watching some oprah special on the sound of music and the sounds of the von trapps filled and echoed throughout the house… the entire cast was being interviewed, along with a performance from descendants of the real von trapp family, who still travel around singing. we stayed up late chatting some nonsense and i finally headed home.
